41 Week Bump Pic!

Yep I am STILL here and have the photos to prove it!

41+0 Dive Smidget Dive!

It's been a bit of a roller coaster this week. I started the week thinking that nothing was progressing and the likelihood was that I was heading for an induction next week. Not what I wanted at all, but having put my mind to accepting that it would be a medicalised birth I actually felt quite cheerful to at least have a plan and an end date.

Of course having then said this to several people, it was inevitable that the goal posts would be moved, which happened on Wednesday when I went to see the midwife. (WARNING: incoming TMI alert) She did a membrane sweep , which is supposed to get things going and discovered that I was actually already 1 or maybe 2cm dilated, fully effaced, softened and head engaged the sweep also brought on the "show" (If none of that made any sense, basically it means that all is primed and ready to go, I won't explain it all as frankly most of it is quite minging and you can all google it if you really want to). The midwife said she'd book me in to see her again next Wednesday and book an induction for either that day or the next, but she was pretty confident that it'd happen by itself before then.

So, back to plan A and I was feeling quite pleased again, but now another 3 days have passed and still nothing but the ongoing aches and tightening that I've been having for a few weeks and I'm starting to get very very frustrated with this now. It's not being helped by the fact that all the other NCT babies are now here and have been for nearly a week, the oldest two are a month old already!

Grrr, oh and to add insult to injury the cricket was rained off today so I couldn't even watch that!

PS. I can now confirm that curry definitely doesn't work, (was worth another go tho hey?) neither does pineapple, raspberry leaf tea, membrane sweeps, walking, stair climbing, acupuncture (tho that was nice on my back), cuddling other peoples babies or being prodded by my friend Rachel.

Bump Pic 40 Weeks

Well I said I hoped there wouldn't be a 40 week photo, but it seems that Smidget doesn't read the blog. So here I still am! Slightly different angle from the last pic, maybe a bit less scarily huge looking?

We've been enjoying what may (hopefully) be our last baby-free weekend for some time. As all too many people seem very keen to tell me that I will never get any time with my husband/friends/ to sleep for the rest of eternity I've had plenty of naps, been out for a very nice lunch with Fred, and a pub roast with a few friends. We also popped in on one of the other NCT couples and their very gorgeous 8 day old son. This last activity has not helped with my impatience one little bit!

So, with the rather scary birth bit somewhere on the horizon, and much as it was nice to get time with Fred/friends/the duvet I'm going to try to avoid the "your doomed" advice and instead hang on to the much more welcome " it's all worth it when you hold your baby" version (bit of a tip there for anyone talking to large and hormone riddled women) I just hope I get to test it out soon.

Bump Pic 36 Weeks

Well the bump is coming on a-pace, proof below! This was taken this morning, hence the Bracknell face lift hairstyle, oh my it's too hot for long hair!


Bump 36+5

I'm now only 2 days away from the 37 week mark, the point at which Smidget will be classed as full term. Horrah! amongst other things this means that if he/she decided to put in an appearance I'd be able to use the low risk midwife unit at the hospital, which is a whole lot nicer than the medical unit and would mean Fred could stay with me the whole time and we could all go home together after just a few hours, rather than me being shipped off to a ward with a new born while Fred is kicked out to, er smoke a cigar or something.

So in theory Smidget could be here pretty soon, tho as it's a first baby there is a good chance he/she will be fashionably late. That said two of the NCT Mums have just had their babies this week, both about 12 days early! This has sent me into a very mixed world of excitement and panic! I want to meet this baby, I want the birth over and done with and I'm hot, heavy and uncomfortable, but ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - there is really no way out of this now! lol!

Bump Pic 33 Weeks

Getting a bit better at doing this regularly now, so here I am plus bump on the beach this weekend. Like all good British beach pictures it was howling a gale and threatening to rain - so ignore my crazy hair please!




And no, I haven't just shoved a football up my jumper!


Last week saw my final 5 day working week. I'm trying to work up to 38 weeks, but am getting very tired now so rather than start my maternity leave early I am using up some holiday to take off one day a week for a good nap. Role on Wednesday, and yes I am counting the days till I finish now (it's 20 btw)! I've was also finally been caught by the stretch mark fairy! Booooo! I'd got this far and was starting to wonder if I'd get away with it, but no! Oh well, I don't think I'll be getting my belly out in public any time soon anyway!

We're still in post flood chaos, but hopefully we'll at least have the carpet back down next Friday, the nesting urges will have to stay away until after that.

I've now moved on to the "birth preparation" stage of the relaxation CDs, only it's working a bit too well at the moment as I've fallen asleep every time I listened to it! Will give that another go this evening I think.

Bump Pic 32 Weeks

So, finally, here is an up to date pic of my ever expanding belly. This was taken today so it's 32 + 2.


We were trying to take all of these pics in the same place - in front of the wardrobe doors in the bedroom, but have had to relocate to the spare room for this one as our bedroom got flooded on Thursday! No, it wasn't my waters breaking, it was the neighbours poorly plumbed in washing machine. So we are in a bit of a state of chaos in the flat at the moment, tho luckily only the bedroom got wet and we've got good weather for drying stuff out. Smidget had better not get any ideas of turning up early tho, we were just starting to get organised and it's all gone a bit to pot for the moment.


Anyway, back to the point - here is the picture!

Bump Pics

I haven't put any bump pics on here in a while and I suspect that the only reason some people come on here is to see me getting good and fat so I thought it was time for an update!

Before: to prove I haven't always had a huge belly! Well not quite before, as unknown to me I was already a wee bit pregnant at this point. These were taken on holiday in Spain.

2-3 weeks

24 Weeks: Right then jumping forward a bit, but back in Spain, this time Tarifa for our last pre-baby holiday.

(I thought it was only fair that there should be a pic of Fred on here too)

27 Weeks: These ones were actually done for the blog, but it's taken me until now to post them (sorry) I think the bump looks a lot smaller than it really was at this point, being held in by the now rather tight rugby shirt I think. This was taken post match (hence me looking a bit rough) - just as well it was nearly the end of the season really, I don't think the shirt would have held out much longer!

30 Weeks: Again not taken specifically for the blog, but you get the idea, bump looking a lot bigger now (tho the fact that I'd just eaten a big pie may not have helped!)

Bump Pics 19 Weeks

Right then, here are some more pictures taken this afternoon, which is 19 weeks +2 days (+ a large lunch).

Note - another non-maternity top, yay! All these empire line things are very handy, tho I think that they might make the bump look a bit bigger than it really is, or perhaps that's just lunch (it was a very nice lunch). mmm

I suspect my belly is rather larger than that this afternoon after a very nice (and large) lunch - mmm - thank you Fred! Potentially our last chance for a bit of Valentines day spoiling and I'm making the most of it!
